Say it!... and your team will emerge

Hello to all, today's topic I think touches on a common belief about success, that I think we have it upside down.

I have seen many many times, and I include myself here, that whenever we have a project, or a great idea about something, we keep it secret so nobody will steal our million dollar idea... Sounds Familiar? I thought so!

But after learning about how success really works, I came to the conclusion that nothing could be further from the truth!

The fact that we believe that not telling others, will somehow help us achieve what we are looking for is simply crazy! This thinking comes from the "lack" mentality, the "not enough" line of thinking, is this ladies and gentlemen is the root of all the things missing in our lives today.

If we have a great idea, we need to tell the world, we need to say it out loud, so everybody knows what we are up to, and if our dreams and vision match theirs, then they will help us make it happen.

Another thing that happens when we "Say it" is that we are putting our word on the line and our reputation, knowing that everybody knows what we are looking for, inspires us to make sure we make it happen.

Who here wants to hear everybody say that we are a failure? Nobody right...Well there are two options, either we say it and keep on trying until we do it, even if we find other ways how NOT to do it, or not saying anything and not trying anything, because we can't fail at that we didn't try.

The choice is yours, but if you are on the side of DOERS, then I guess you will choose the way of trying until you do! I cheer for that!!

So, Are you looking for the best and most talented team members to achieve great things? Then Say it! and your team will emerge!

There are millions of people looking for a team, you will never get them if they didn't know!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time!!

Federico Ruiz

The power of The One

Hello to all, for those of you "Matrix" fans, you might think I am talking about Neo... but no this time I am talking about that higher power that we all need to tap into.

Since I am Catholic, I call Him God.

I am a firm believer that we as humans can do remarkable things, that we can be responsible for our future, that we are responsible for all the things that we bring upon ourselves, but none of these things are possible without the help from above.

A huge part of growing personally and spiritually has to do with the ability to be humble, and believing that we are the highest power available doesn't look very humble to me.

Who here hasn't asked for God's help?, Who here has never said "Thank God"? I think we all have!

In my particular case, I have absolutely no doubt that God is always behind me, supporting me, and guiding me. When things aren't really going our way... Was it Him who left us, or was it us who moved away?

In many cases, our limited comprehension about how everything is tied together, leaves us thinking, Where did He go? In my experience, we get the answer somewhere in the future, and then wonder How did He do it so perfectly?

I am not asking you to be a believer, but I am telling you I am!

There is an enormous source of wisdom out there waiting for you to tap into it. My tip for this weekend, is that you consider it, you'll be glad you did!

Have a wonderful weekend!
God Bless!

"The thermometer and the thermostat"

Hello to all!... For the sake of integrity, let me clear up that the title is not a creation of mine, I have extracted it from the book "Tribes" which I have mention here before.

I finally finished the book yesterday, while waiting for my wife to get her passport... and in the last pages I found a few jewels that I will be sharing with you in future posts.

When looking at the title is easy to see they are both tools related to temperature, but one of them has a greater punch.

The thermometer: lets you know the temperature.
This is certainly important when you think about it. Knowing the temperature, depending on what you are doing, will certainly trigger you to take action, and I will use three examples.

You can use the thermometer to know your body temperature, and depending on what it reads, you take appropriate action. You can set the A/C on you house, office or car to a certain temperature that you find agreeable. You use it to see the temperature of your oven if you are baking a cake. So as we see, thermometers are useful, but they are only indicators...

The thermostat: Regulates the temperature
The thermostat teams with the thermometer, but to make a difference, the thermostat is able to change, to correct according to the ever changing conditions.

Our body has its own thermostat, when we are hot, we sweat; when we are cold we shiver; and keeping this temperature balanced in what keeps our body alive, a few degrees up or down and we are in trouble.
The A/C could freeze us cold if it continues to pour out cold air, is the thermostat that makes it pleasant, that adapts, that directs the actions.
The cake wouldn't taste as good if the oven didn't maintain the temperature, it would either burn or not cook at all...

What do we get from all these examples? The thermostat is a leader, the thermometer is a follower.

Who would you rather be? Just a message? Or the one who uses the message and creates change, improvement, who makes the difference between alive or dead, comfortable or freezing, a good cake or a terrible one.

My invitation to you, is that you become a thermostat, that you are constantly tracking your environment and make the necessary adjustments to make the world a better place.

Have a wonderful week!

Until next time!

Bueno vayamos a divertirnos otra vez!!

Vamos a hacerlo!"

Hypnotic Self-Regression...

Hello to all!, I am pretty sure a Hypnotic Self-Regression is something any Psychologist would say is impossible, and since I am not a Psychologist consider who it came from!

The idea behind this recently-made-up technique, is to try to go back to that point in time in our life where nothing seemed impossible, where we were vice-free, and limitation-less.

I have written about this same topic in the past, but today I have another tip...

In our heads there is usually a board of directors meeting going on, deciding what is possible, what isn't, if its good for us or not, etc. For those of you who have participated in meetings, you know that many times they go nowhere, and are a waste of time. The same thing happens in our head we spend so much time evaluating, analysing, discussing, and we get nothing done. All this board of directors discussion does, is delay our decisions and many times, miss great opportunities. The different members are like different parts of you that just can't agree on things.

Well my advice for today is to bring into the board a 5-year-old kid. Yes, strive to think like a kid once-in-a-while!!! They usually come up with the simplest, boldest decisions. They are not contaminated with the "no", "can't", "fear" type of words that limits you and me every single day.

Weren't we having more fun when we were kids? Hey let's go have fun again!!

Like Jim Rohn said: " The best challenge in the world.... Let's Go Do It!"

So today's recommendation, go out and find the most childish adult friend you can find and dare them... I am pretty sure you will accomplish great things.

Forget your limitations, think about the possibilities!!!

Have wonderful weekend!!

Till next time!

¿No?

Insanity and Heresy

Hello to all, I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you are setting a better sail today than you did yesterday.

The article's title might have you wondering, isn't this about growth and prosperity? Why is he talking about Insanity and Heresy? If you didn't, well that was my intention! :)

Those are words taken from quotes from two different people.

One is Einstein, who said "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein".

The other is Seth Godin "Today's heretics are the people who challenge the Status Quo. Seth Godin"

These two brilliant people are talking about the same thing, with different approaches. Are we afraid to challenge the current flow? That is the same as saying we are doing the same things over and over again.

If we consider the advice from these two men, we realize that the world is totally upside down. If we want to make a difference, if we want to leave a legacy, if we want to achieve great things in our lifetime, then we must strive to be Heretics, to be Insane.

When people talk about you behind your back, are they calling you crazy? No? Then we have to try harder!

My challenge to you is, be willing to let those great ideas out!! Forget about trying to blend in, try to STAND OUT! Let's BE GREAT!

Have a wonderful week!

Till next time!

You define where you want to go...

Hello to all! Hoping you had a wonderful week...

During this week I was listening to one of my Jim Rohn's audiobooks, and decided to write a very nice topic that he mentions very often...

In previous post I wrote about getting better information to make better decisions, and I still believe that, but there is one fact that we need to bring about.

Today's media is mostly focused on showing us all the things that are going wrong today, that's what makes the news. North Korea, AH1N1 influenza pandemic, the economic crisis, you name it.

If we are looking for information to make a decision, and we see and hear the previously mentioned facts (Among others), we are very likely to believe it is not the best of times to do it.

If we make the decision NOT to act, then we are letting the wind determine our destination. I am not a Sailor, but I am sure sailors go where they want to REGARDLESS of where the wind is blowing. They know how to set the sails to use the wind to propel them to their destination.

This is exactly what we need to do, we need to make a habit to constantly learn new useful things that will allow us to set a better sail tomorrow than we did today, so we can get to where we want to go faster.

If we stay on deck waiting for the wind to blow exactly the same direction where we want to go, we are very unlikely to ever leave, and even if we do, the wind may shift at any time.

To close I will quote Jim Rohn, "Is not the blowing of the wind that determines your destination, but the set of the sail"

Are you waiting for the wind, or you are learning to set a better sail?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Till next time.

Knowledge vs. Wisdom

Hello to all! I hope you had an incredible weekend and that you figured out which tribes you belong to, I will write more about them as I continue to read the book.

Today I will write about a very important topic in this journey to growth and prosperity.

To Grow and Prosper we certainly need to improve many things from within, but to do so faster and better, we need to tap into an "almost" infinite resource, and I mean BOOKS.

I have to admit, that I was not much of a reader when I was younger... Then I found my passion with cars, and started reading magazines about them, and then finally I made the jump to books. I still read magazines as they are very informative, but books have been instructive.

A book is someone's experience and advice just waiting for you to take it. Of course not all books will fill our needs, but there are certainly millions of books that are awaiting for us, and once they are read we will be better person.

I have developed a habit (Remember the Lotus Code?) to always have a book at hand, it gives us the choice to learn something new at any given time, we have to become thirsty for knowledge and books help quench it. Isn't it great to learn something new everyday? I believe so...

So, books provide the KNOWLEDGE and it is our job to turn that knowledge into WISDOM. Wisdom is something fascinating, it is "applied knowledge", it is our experience and our knowledge put into action to create.

As we grow older we become wiser. Now, wouldn't it be great if we could be wise, while still being young? That's the challenge for today... Become as wise as you can, as soon as possible.

Go to a bookstore and look around, see what interest you and then learn about it, learning together we can create a very interesting and powerful Tribe!

Have a wonderful week!

Until next time...

¿A cuáles Tribus perteneces?

Federico Ruiz

What Tribes do you belong to?

Hello... recently I started to read a book called "Tribes" from Seth Godin. I really recommend it even though I have been through 20% of it...

The interesting thing about the book is the concept of Tribes... A tribe is a group of people with common interests. As simple as that.

While reading it, I started to think about what tribes I currently belong to, and it turns out we belong to many, many tribes... They could be sports related, hobby related, organizational and on and on...

This really puts out into the open the human necessity to "belong", we all need to belong to something bigger than ourselves, its our nature. We are attracted to the tribes if we see in them things we see in ourselves.

Now since this Blog is about growth and prosperity, think about the tribes, that you would like to belong, but you currently don't... Why is that?, What is keeping you from being a part of it? and also think about the tribes that you currently belong, but are not necessarily useful to you...

Changing Tribes means you changed the way you think and the way you act. So my challenge to you is that you do some house cleaning and stay in the tribes that bring Joy and Happiness to you, and start working your way into those you currently admire. Once inside new doors will be opened.

And then take the ultimate step, Lead the tribe!

Have a fantastic weekend!

El Código Lotus, el camino hacia el éxito... Parte 2

Federico Ruiz

The Lotus Code, the roadmap to success... Part 2

Hello to all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend...

As I mentioned last week this week I will be touching on the Lotus Code part 2... Acting upon it.

Before we start let's review the code:
Thoughts lead to Words
Words lead to Actions
Actions lead to Habits
Habits lead to Perseverance
Perseverance leads to Attainment
If we see this picture from the perspective of thoughts, it seems as though its an uphill battle all the way to attainment, but the reality is that somewhere between Actions and Habits, our weight will tip the board and it is a downhill road from then on...

This happens with everything we do in our lives, sports, work, art, the more we do it the better we get at it, and then it seems as if nothing is simpler.

Well that's what the lotus code is summarizing, but as you can see, we do have to put the effort and the time to take actions and turn them into habits.

If you think going all the way is too much, at least go half way, and from then on, it will be harder to go back that to enjoy your progress!

Have a wonderful week!

Federico Ruiz
