The secret to Success

Hello to all, I hope you had a wonderful week so far...

Today's topic is critical, I will reveal the secret to success in any endeavor you wish to follow.

Are you ready?... Ok, here it goes...

The recipe has 2 ingredients:
1. A big dream
2. The will to go get it

Well, there you go! We need to begin by remembering all the great dreams we had in the past and that we have slowly forgotten. First we need to remember, and if we didn't have one clearly defined, then we need to visualize how our dream life would be like if we didn't have any limitations. Then once we have it, we need to ask ourselves the very sincere question: Am I willing to go after it? and here is where the recipe is finally complete, and the impossible is made possible. If our will to succeed is much stronger than our fear of making mistakes, then we are on our way, but if we fear more our possibility of being mistaken, then the rational decision would be not to try.

You have the recipe, it is now up to you to decide whether you are going to cook it or not.

Have a wonderful day!

Until next time!

Being more successful than others, or through others success?

Hello to all, first I wanted to apologize for not posting on Friday, I was caught up in urgent things, but here is the good news, I will post three times this week!!

OK, getting to today's topic... What do you really want? You want to be more successful than others or you want to achieve success through others success?

If you thought the second one is the same as taking advantage of others, then you think I am a very horrible person!! :)

Here is what I want you to reflect about: We all want to be continually moving forward and achieving greater and greater success, but if you approach it as YOU being the successful one, then there is a certain degree of selfishness that is not really helpful to our personal growth and prosperity mentality.

Now if you think about being an enabler of others success, that people come to you for advice, or for a partner, and working together is what helps them achieve success, then this selfless approach is simply much more successful in the long run.

To put it more simply, think about if your friends and coleagues would write an autobiography, would you be in them?

Being part of someone's life is simply the greatest success we can achieve, but not as a hindrance but as the enabler.

The challenge is to be ready to help, always have a good piece of advice to give and don't expect anything in return... if we do this, many great things will continually come our way.

I hope that with some of my comments here I am enabling you to be a little more successful everyday!

Have a nice day!!

Until Tomorrow!!

Say it!... and your team will emerge

Hello to all, today's topic I think touches on a common belief about success, that I think we have it upside down.

I have seen many many times, and I include myself here, that whenever we have a project, or a great idea about something, we keep it secret so nobody will steal our million dollar idea... Sounds Familiar? I thought so!

But after learning about how success really works, I came to the conclusion that nothing could be further from the truth!

The fact that we believe that not telling others, will somehow help us achieve what we are looking for is simply crazy! This thinking comes from the "lack" mentality, the "not enough" line of thinking, is this ladies and gentlemen is the root of all the things missing in our lives today.

If we have a great idea, we need to tell the world, we need to say it out loud, so everybody knows what we are up to, and if our dreams and vision match theirs, then they will help us make it happen.

Another thing that happens when we "Say it" is that we are putting our word on the line and our reputation, knowing that everybody knows what we are looking for, inspires us to make sure we make it happen.

Who here wants to hear everybody say that we are a failure? Nobody right...Well there are two options, either we say it and keep on trying until we do it, even if we find other ways how NOT to do it, or not saying anything and not trying anything, because we can't fail at that we didn't try.

The choice is yours, but if you are on the side of DOERS, then I guess you will choose the way of trying until you do! I cheer for that!!

So, Are you looking for the best and most talented team members to achieve great things? Then Say it! and your team will emerge!

There are millions of people looking for a team, you will never get them if they didn't know!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time!!

Opportunities are like pieces of a puzzle

I have been involved in a network marketing company for the past 6 months, and have learned a lot about myself and others, and one of those learnings is what I want to share with you today.

I have come to the conclusion that opportunities in our lives are like pieces of a puzzle. This not only applies to network marketing but to all opportunities out there.

I believe that what we think is greatly influenced by 3 main things: our past, our goals and our current situation. Our past is our experience, our goals is where we want to go, and our current situation is.. well our current situation, and this last one is the one we have the least control of and the one that is constantly changing.

Our life is like a puzzle that we are constantly building, and life provides the pieces of it.
Life offers a wide variety of pieces all the time, and it depends upon us to decide which pieces fit.

If an opportunity comes along, we take a look at it, and decide it just doesn't fit our puzzle, we discard it, but if "our current situation" changes, it is possible that the previously discarded piece is the one that now fits like a glove. Also previously selected pieces might not fit as good as we thought and we take them away from the puzzle.

In my business this has happened a few times. I offered someone the opportunity and they said NO, and then later they decide to give it a try and they are now one of the most committed members of my team.

My challenge for the week, you can't change your past, but YOU CAN change your goals and your current situation. So take a moment to think about what opportunities you might be saying NO to, that you might be looking to find them in the future.

When choosing, choose success.

Until Friday!!

The key is if it is USEFUL

Before today's post, I wanted to let you know that on friday I did not post because it was Holy Friday, and since I am Catholic that day is very special, and I focus on it.

But today is Monday, and I wish you had a wonderful Easter Sunday.

Back to the topic, continuing on with the "tips" I have read during the course I am currently studying, there is one thing that I think everybody should practice, and it is about having "useful thoughts".

Once I got this, I realize how consistently we use our own thoughts to set barriers and keep ourselves from moving forward.

This is how it works, we need to train ourselves to think in ways that are useful for ourselves.
If you have failed in the past, and you think you are not good at that, or that you don't belong doing that, then it is very difficult to convince yourself that you can actually succeed. So is that thought useful? NO.
But consider this, let's say you failed and you tell yourself that you now have a better chance at succeeding because you learnt from the previous experience? In my book that is a far more useful thought, than the previous one which is limiting you.

But the great thing about this, is that it doesn't need to be a real experience!! It could be a situation you made up! You brain doesn't know if the experience was real or not, all it has is an image or movie playing along. And that movie will determine how you feel at that very moment.

Lets try this, I will setup a situation and then you will tell me how you feel, please try to picture it clearly in your mind:
You are about to give a presentation, but you didn't have enough time to study it properly. You step up to the podium and you are really nervous, you know there might be a lot of questions to which you don't have an answer, your promotion or a bonus may depend upon this presentation.
As you are about to start your boss asks you to give a quick summary before you begin, but you were hoping to learn as you went along, your stomach twists and you are shaking... Ok, let's stop it here! How would you feel in such situation? not very good right? Well, many times we do this to ourselves we think about all the possible horrible outcomes, and all we do is put ourselves down even more.

Now try this story: You know for sure this is by far the best presentation you have ever done in your life, you can't wait to step up to the podium and share your findings with everybody there, you are wearing your best suit/dress, you can already hear and see people nodding and clapping after your presentation, its the best day of your life.

Now how does that feel? quite different right? Well both stories were made up, but you still felt different in both. The second idea was considerably more useful than the previous one.

Useful thoughts are those that make you feel good and at your best, its not about whether it is true or fantasy, its whether it helps you with the task at hand.

Everytime I have a soccer game, before I hit the field, I "see" myself doing all these great plays, scoring goals, making precise passes and when the game starts there is a confidence in me that I built before the game.

So to close, the best question you can ask to monitor your thoughts so they don't become a hindrance is IS IT USEFUL? If the answer is "no", then remember a different situation where you actually did it right, or make it up!

Have a wonderful week!

See you on Friday!

What if you meet yourself 10 years ago?

Since this blog is intended to push you to be better everyday, its absolutely logical to believe that 10 years from now you will be a different person.

The idea for this post came about during a conversation I had with my wife Isabela, we met each other in December of 2000. OK, no quite 10 years but you get the picture.

We were talking about those 9 years and the many things that have happened since then.
Many great stories came up, but as the conversation was developing it got more philosophical, and then the phrase was heard "I think that if I met myself today, I wouldn't even be my friend!"
I then began to point out all the prejudices I had, all the then-great but currently-obviously-poor perspective on things, etc. All in all, the conclusion is clear, as we travel through life we change.

Since today is Friday and the intention is to leave you with a weekend thought to reflect upon, try to go back 10 years, and check who you were, not only what you wore, because we all know we shouldn't be allowed outside dressed like that (Fashion also changes).

If you met yourself today and had a chance to go for a coffee, what would you advice that person? Are you really different today? perhaps you are pretty much the same person...

One thing is clear, if you are currently thinking " I am a great person, why should I change?" then you are in deep trouble! We can always be better. So TRY!

Have a nice weekend!! and let me know the things you have changed and are glad you did!

Until Monday,

On which side of the coin are you?

You may all know the saying that goes "there are two sides to every coin", and it is usually true.

The coin that I want to refer to today is a very tricky one, and it has to do with our ability to catch people doing things.

If when I said "Catch people" you thought about people making mistakes or embarrasing things, you are on one side of the coin. If you thought about making sure that any good action didn't go without recognition, then you belong to the other side.

The story I wanted to share with you, has many little stories inside, and it goes like this...

About 3 or 4 months back, I heard this advice "live your life looking to catch people doing things right, and let them know". I heard it on an Audiobook with three great mentors, Eric Worre, Randy Gage and Randy Schroeder.

When I heard that advice, I realize that either by genetics or by natural selection or for whatever reason, we as kids have a tremendous ability to catch people doing things wrong and then embarrasing them for it. We as kids are cruel!!! and for some reason we grow up, but that ability stays with us. Making fun of how people dress, how they walk, talk, etc. We all know those situations.

And when we stumble upon someone who actually does things right, we then say, "Well that's his/her job". Which may be true, but Wouldn't you love that people recognize you when you did "your job" right? Doesn't it feel good when they do?

Well, to continue my story, I tried to keep myself aware of this, and everytime I found someone doing things right, I told them so. Whether a waiter (tress), a steward/ess, mechanic, work colleague, you name it.

By doing so, I found out two very interesting things from this exercise: 1. People really love it! and they remember you by it, my dad did it to the lady that serves coffee at the local coffee shop, and at the following encounter, when the lady saw my dad, her eyes brightened and she did the best she could to serve "an even better" coffee this time. I did it to the lady that washes my hair at the barber shop, and now she really tries to give me a pleasant experience.

But number 2. is really something to reflect upon. All the people that I complimented, DID NOT EXPECT IT!, they were surprised to hear it, and this speaks volumes to how we interact with people everyday.

My challenge to you?, quit that ability to catch people doing things wrong, and jump to the other side of the coin, and make sure not a day goes by, that you don't let people know when they did things right. You can't go wrong! People will like you better, give you a better service and very likely, will let YOU know when you are doing things right as well.

Think about it and share your ideas. can't wait to read what you have to say!

Have a wonderful week!
Till friday

What gets you off the bed early?

Sometime ago I was asked this question, and to be perfectly honest I didn't have an answer right away. But it was a pretty good way to ask what excites you? and usually what drives us, also makes us happy.

For those of you who don't know me, I am a night person, going to bed at 1.30am is not uncommon. Obviously getting off the bed early is not necessarily a strong suit of mine, not because I sleep a lot but because I go to sleep late. Ok, but the story I wanted to share with you today is about something that happened just 2 days ago.

I had gone to bed around 2.30am, and at 6.30am, my cell phone rang... I was really asleep, and I never get calls at that time of day, so I picked up the phone imagining, What could've possible happened? I admit I was a little worried.

Turns out it was the delivery guy, the guy that brings me my Business Tools and my Products.

When I realized it was him, I could've felt like he was abussive and disrespectful, for calling me at that time, but it turns out I felt joy. I was receiving the tools I need to keep on building my future.

Now, after I received my stuff, I wonder if I would have felt the same way, were it something I didn't want to do?

What if your boss calls you and wakes you up in the middle of the night?
How do you feel, when you HAVE to wake up to go somewhere you don't want to go? It's hard isn't it?

Now consider the time when you had to wake up really early to start your vacations? It doesn't hurt as bad!

The point I am trying to make today, is that we can tell if we are doing what we really love doing, if when we get out of the bed, we feel lucky to have a new day, proud of the tasks that are coming our way during the day. We gather strength just by thinking about it and a grin shows up in our face.

How do yo feel when you get out of bed?
Reflect on your answer and then have a serious meeting with yourself, to either change it or make it even better!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday!

Have you noticed that most things in life start with "U"?

First I hope everyone had a blast this weekend, and if you didn't you should have!! So don't miss the next one! (Or any day for that matter)

Anyway, during the weekend I did some sorting regarding the things we want and cherish most in life, and was amazed at how they all began with "U".

What were those things? well, in my list were:

Freedom, Family, Happiness, Relationships, Friends, Love, Faith, Money, Laughter and many more, and as you can clearly see they all start with YOU.

Our life is like a big screen that reflects what we (The projector) beams out.

If you had a lens projecting out what is inside you, would you go see that movie? Would it be rated G or R?

If the movie we put out is awesome I can guarantee you that the room will be filled with viewers, and some of those viewers will help you create an even better movie, for some of those your movie will be a source of inspiration. Now, if your room is empty, is perhaps time to check your own movie and maybe create a better one.

Here is today's challenge for you...

Let's see who wins the Oscars!

It´s on!!!

Have a wonderful week and see you on Friday!
