El Código Lotus, el camino hacia el éxito... Parte 1

Simple, ¿no?

He dicho!!!

The Lotus Code, the roadmap to success... Part 1

Hello to all, during the week I attended a webinar conducted by Mark Yarnell, a great author and mentor. The webinar described the Lotus Code, which is an ancient code that summarizes the roadmap to success.

The Code has 6 steps, and you cannot skip any of them, because one is simply the consequence of the previous one.

But here it is, hoping you apply it to your everyday life like I have (Since yesterday at least :) )

Thoughts lead to Words
Words lead to Actions
Actions lead to Habits
Habits lead to Perseverance
Perseverance leads to Attainment

Simple right? It is, what is not so simple is to actually go through all of it from thoughts to attainment.

We all think about the things we want, and we even talk about them, but perhaps we don't do it as often, so we stop on talking and take no action.

Taking no action, means no habits and on to NO ATTAINMENT.

Actually getting the things you want have nothing to do with outside factors, but rather our lack of action, habits, perseverance.

I usually like to explain a little more, but the code is so simple yet powerful, that all I can say is.... Enough said!

To close, are you acting upon those things you really want? Or you are stuck at just talking about them? Take the extra step and wonderful things will begin to happen.

On Part 2 we'll talk about why acting upon it is so critical!

Until next time!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Family and Friends, our main support....

Hello to all, last Sunday while playing soccer, a player from the other team unintentionally hit me in the nose and broke it, of course there was the bleeding and the pain, but what popped immediately in my head was Who to call? Not because they were going to put my nose back together, what I needed was support.

I knew I needed to see a doctor, but having your loved ones there with you, makes it a lot easier.

The people that joined me at the hospital were my family, but also very important were all the calls I got later that day from the friends that knew what happened. It is very comforting to get those calls from the people you really care about.

I will quote a great mentor in a couple of sentences, with which I completely agree.
They are from Jim Rohn: "Friendship is the ultimate support system in the world, these are people that know all about you and still like you..." And that's totally true, so I wanted to thank all my friends for coping with me. Friends make an impact in your life, so I thank them for changing me into a better person....

The other sentence is "Always take care of the inner-circle" This inner-circle is your close family, we have to continually nourish these relationships for they will be there when you need them.

I have been blessed with an awesome family, where laughter and joking are always present even if your nose is not looking at the right direction. Humor is a key ingredient.

Tell your loved ones that you love them, don't assume they know, for its always awesome to hear the words "I love you". So do it more often.

My nose is fine, Thank god!

Every night when doing my night prayers, I thank God for the day of life I was given, the love that filled it, the health that kept it going and the faith that guided it.

Thank you for being there...

Till next time!

Better data for better decisions...

Hello to all, today's topic is about the data we use to make decisions...

I don't know why we humans use information the way we do, but I do know that we have very little knowledge about statistics. My idea is not to give an statistics class, but rather give some interesting facts.

The data source: Have you ever stopped to figure out how valid is the data you are considering for your decision? You might think you did, but here is the reality. Unconsciously we tend to choose the data source that better adapts to our already set bias. So what we are really doing is searching for information that CONFIRMS what we think, not necessarily to make a more informed decision.

Example: You have a preconceived concept of something, and one person you ask about it confirms the data. You are very likely to think.. "I was right", but what if you find someone who doesn't agree? We are probably going to look for a tie breaker... See? we believed the first one because he agreed, and did not believe the second one because he didn't.

Another way to put it would be... You hear a particular news that seems hard to believe, a few minutes later another person calls you with the same information, and then a third. After three calls you might say, "if three people, from different places said so, then it is probably true".

The reality here is that you are not considering where the people got the information, it could have been the same source!!!! And also, who says that three people can be considered enough to validate?

In both cases, we may be taking poor decisions just based on the information we obtained.

My advice (Still is only one person giving you this advice, so you might want to validate it!!!), go look for information with your mind open and without preconceptions, otherwise you might see yourself looking for the information that fits you, and leave out the information that suits you.

Hope you give it some thought throughout the weekend!!

Have a good one!

It is just like anesthesia!

Hello to all... Yesterday my mother underwent surgery, which went great (Thanks for asking).

I spent the day with her, and was allowed to be next to her when she was just released from the Operation Room.

At first she had little to no control of her actions, she could not open her eyes, she could not move her arms and squeeze her hands, etc. In short she had no control.

But as time passed, she started to regain more control, she spoke better, her face looked more alert, and after an hour and a half she was pretty much 100% ready, when we were allowed to take her back home.

Later that day, I was thinking about today's topic for the Blog, and the story I had just lived seemed perfect!!!

Many people today live their lives sedated, under the effects of anesthesia and even worse is that they don't want to wake up.

When we are under the effects of anesthesia we are not in control, in fact we actually surrender our control to someone else, who we hope will do us more better than harm and we cannot recall anything that happened, until we wake up.

In the medical example it makes sense, because we otherwise would be harming our health, and doctors are willing to help us improve our quality of life.

But in our day to day, Who is "your doctor"?, What has you sedated?, Do you like it like that?

Well, let me tell you this... waking up is certainly unpleasant and slow (As described by my mom), but there is no better feeling than to regain control.

Let's wake up from the comfort of the Operation Room and take on life! It will take us sometime to regain control totally but it all begins by waking up.

Have a wonderful day!

Is not the information we have is the information we purposefully miss

Hello to all, today I want to talk to you about something that will feel like it is science fiction, but it certainly isn't.

I have continued on with the course that I am taking, and have come across a fantastic fact about how we operate, and it is the information we consider important.

Fact: We process only 1% to 2% of the total amount of information we actually have in front of us.

There is soooo much information out there, that we simply cannot process it all, and thus we take shortcuts, so we can make decisions.

Think about when you are driving, there is the road ahead, other cars, the billboards, the radio is on, we have to feel the steering wheel, the seat, the heat, etc, etc... but we manage to drive back home safely and apparently without breaking a sweat.

We do this by processing only the information that we think is important.

Another example has to do with the news and media we frequently watch or read, by reading one or another, we may see that there is a completely different world in our own city or town, and probably both contain true information.

Where do I want to go with this? If we can process only 2% at most of the information, there is in reality 50 or more possible ways to live our life, there are like parallel universes happening around you, and you have a choice in which one of those you wish to live.

To bring it into practice, choose wisely the information you choose to make decisions, because decisions are the steering wheel of life, and I certainly want you to go to a really nice place, so choose the map wisely.

My map is full of positive thoughts, positive people, learnings (not failures), happiness and laughter.

What does yours have? If you don't like it you can change it by paying attention to the other 98% of information you are discarding...

Think about it, and post your comments below!

Have a wonderful weekend!

For people to follow we got to lead the way.

Hello to all, after the wake up call to start dreaming again, the next step we need to take is lead the way...

Some people talk about how scarce Oil is, or food is going to be, or drinking water, but to me the most scarce element in today's world is leadership.

Leadership has nothing to do with your rank in a company, association or in your neighborhood, leadership is not something you get, is something your earn.

Today's topic is about earning it... are you ready to lead? are you willing to lead?

A leader, as defined by a friend and leader Randy Gage, is a person who makes other people willingly do things that on their own they would not do.

We all have things we would like to change in our lives both personally and in our environment, yet we do nothing, when this happens we are very likely waiting for a leader, and since they are so scarce, things stay the same.

A key feature of a leader is the ability to inspire, meaning being able to make other people see themselves better than they see themselves today. And we do this being an example to follow and by showing others the possibilities.

The idea behind this Blog is to make people a little bit better everyday, if we make the decision to be a little bit better everyday, people will see it in our actions and if they like what they see they will follow. Are we setting that example? Or we are afraid to raise above the mean and be seen?

My challenge for you today is that we rise above, if we have a better way of doing things, lets show everybody! Have you ever thought, If only people were as good as I am, the world would be a little bit better? Well you know what, I do believe you are great, but we need you show to it.

Lets do things right, and lead the way. Lets build a path for people to follow.

I already began my journey, have you?

Until next time!

A levantarse!!!!

RIIIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!!! A levantarse!!!

Que tengan un feliz fin de semana!

Federico Ruiz

A wake up call!

Hello to all, today I wish I will become one of those things we have on top of our nightstand and we tend to hate in the early hours of the weekdays... The alarm clock!

Yes an alarm clock is a device used to wake us up, it cuts our dreams and shoves reality in our face, it tells us, the day begins now....

Well, apparently I fell like being bad to you today, but it is quite the opposite, because I want to be the alarm clock that wakes up your dreams.

In our society today it seems that growing up means putting your dreams behind.
When we are kids (4-10 yo), our life is based on dreams, we are able to create whatever reality we want and we are very good at it. Suddenly we start piling up years (15-20 yo) and the dreams are not so easy to live, but we still have them. This has a particular twist to it, we see them in the future, we believe that as soon as we are given a chance to earn our living we will get them.
The clock keeps on ticking and somewhere we talk about our dreams as things of the past!!! we use phrases like "I remember when I wanted... but....."

Today I want to be an alarm clock to wake you up and steer you away from this path, and hopefully getting your dreams back on the driver's seat.

During the weekend give yourself some time to remember and why not, build new dreams. Dreams are the energy of life, you need energy to climb a mountain, you might not see it yet, but you know you are on your way to the top... If the energy is exhausted, then the only way you have is down. But if you keep your dreams alive, you will eventually get to the top, and once there, you can enjoy the wonderful view.

You still need to climb it, but the effort will be well worth it.

To close I have one word for you..... RIIIIIIIINNNGGGGG!!! Wake up!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

¿Estábamos convencidos y no hicimos nada?

Federico Ruiz

For action we need conviction AND motivation

First of all I wanted to excuse myself from not posting on Friday, it was labor day here and got involved in some home fixing action, and forgot to post. My apologies.

But, more importantly is that I recently learned this from my course and I think its great info!

I was reading about mental strategies and how one makes decisions, and we all need at least two strategies, the "convince" strategy and the "motivate" strategy.

When we make decisions, we use both internal and external information, and once processed we must be "convinced" that one option is better than the other, and yet we may still not take any action. What happened!? We were convinced and did nothing?

It turns out, conviction has little to do with taking action, conviction just means we made up our minds on one of many options, what we need now is the "motivate" strategy...

What the "motivate" strategy does, is that it analyzes the effects a decision will have on our own well-being, thus if we find compelling enough arguments in out analysis, then we are prompted to act. Motivation is the drive, the desire, but we must be convinced it is the right choice.

If you try to act only on motivation, you'll be disappointed. Why? you might really want to do something about your situation, but if you are not convinced that the series of actions you thought about are the correct ones, you'll be looking for better options.

Let's say you want to lose some weight (Motivation), but the proposed diet does not convince you. You are very unlikely to use that diet.
Let's say you find a great diet program, with awesome benefits, but you just don't really want to lose any weight. Then the program is not going to happen either.

My challenge for today is this, if you are motivated to do something to radically change your life, then find a convincing method and start doing it, TAKE ACTION. And if you are already convinced of a way, then think about your life after the fix and GET MOTIVATED!

Have a nice day!!

Federico Ruiz
